I am definitely not a morning person. I do get up early but don’t function well for a few hours so sunrises generally don’t rate much of my attention. Give me a good ol’ beautiful sunset! But a few days ago I was jarred out of my morning doldrums by an absolutely gorgeous multi-colored sunrise. I grabbed my camera and, from my deck, over the span of two minutes took these five photos.

Within seconds the colors had softened. The trees silhouetted are coast oaks.

Just two minutes after I took the first of the five photos dawn had already started to soften and wash out the vibrant colors. The curve may have been a contrail from a jet taking off from the Monterey airport – I’m not sure.

I have always wished I could be a morning person but know my internal time clock is not set for mornings. But I did truly enjoy this particular morning with its special sunrise.

What beautiful pictures, Linda! How fortunate you were up and able to capture that gorgeous sunrise for the rest of us! I love both sunrise and sunset -- though after years of getting up at 4 a.m. to be on the commuter bus by 5, I have to admit to snoozing in during retirement. I have to get up early tomorrow for some medical tests and now I'll reframe it as getting to see the sun rise!

Magnificent! Like you I am not a Morning Person though I wish I could be... everything is so Fresh and new in the Mornings and on the rare occassion that I see a Sunrise it always leaves me in awe! But, I've always been more of a Sunset sorta Gal! *Winks*
