Smiles…

There’s something about sunflowers that bring a smile.

DSCN0358

I’ve been recovering from knee surgery for a month or so…just got rid of that pesky walker so a cane is my best friend right now.  I was cheered up when my friend Doff came by the other day and brought me these sunflowers

(her real purpose was to go over the all-important football pool with GET )happy face football

The crystal pitcher is a retirement gift from PacBell when I took early retirement several years ago.  I like to collect clear crystal and glass.  The little blue pot is  vintage Bauer.

I have a couple of reasons for loving sunflowers:

  • my home state of North Dakota is a huge sunflower grower so they remind me of my roots
  • my nephew Michael who passed away in a motorcycle accident had a connection to sunflowers
  • and, simply, they are just happy and cheerful looking!

Hope your day is as full of cheer as a sunflower!

If I were a flower.. I would be a sunflower.
To always follow the sun, Turn my back to darkness,
Stand proud, tall and straight even with my head full of seeds.

  1. I like your reasons for loving sunflowers - aside from the obvious that they are just so lovely and inspire a smile!

Wishing you a speedy recovery Betty. Knee operations seem to be happening everywhere! THREE of my friends here have all recently had their second knee done.

    Stay safe, and happy!
