I saw my first moose in Maine!

Well, it isn’t a real moose but it is life size!  A man we talked to in this little park by the Meduxnekeag River (NO, I can’t pronounce Meduxnekeag  and YES, I had to look up the spelling!) said that if we stay in Maine very long we will see a live one.  I’m on the watch!

Other moose we’ve encountered in our travels:

1998 at Denali National Park in Alaska.  This was before digital cameras were readily available---I wish I’d had the 26X zoom Nikon camera I now have!

She(?) was enjoying her lunch! This was taken in 2002, the summer we were docents at the Brig Museum at Farragut State Park in Idaho.  We were on our way to visit the Carnegie Library in nearby Wallace and spotted her in a lake beside the highway.

By this time I’d had my Sony Mavica digital camera for a few years and used the 3X zoom to take this photo.

Thanks for stopping by to see my moose!

  1. I don't that spelling thing either!

One place I have been that I LOVED was Alaska and the Denali park - wish I could go again.

  2. Oh ...I love your moose photos!!! I really love moose. I hope you see a real one soon. And that river name is a mouthful. I can't even begin to guess how you pronounce it!

  3. Moose ARE amazing creatures, aren't they? Do you plan to stay in Maine until you see a live one?

  4. Thanks for stopping by my corner of the world. Thank goodness for Google -- I use it all the time, my boss loves to use unusual phrases and words so I am always looking things up before I type them (sometimes he doesn't spell correctly and if it's new to me, I need help too!). We saw moose on our family vacations years ago -- can't even remember where now. Moose in Maine -- who knew! ??? They sure do look different when wet - and I think most people associate them with big antlers. My husband keeps upgrading cameras but I stick with my little Sony Cybershot and don't even know how to use all its functions although I've had it for a couple of years. :/ We are going to Nepal in a couple of weeks -- maybe I should really learn to use something with a better zoom. :) Have a beautiful day.
